Venue: 1st Floor, Wisma OCM, Jalan Hang Jebat, 50250 Kuala Lumpur
Entry fee: RM20/player
International format of 8 boards or 25pts, whichever comes first.
Round-robin/knock-out/league will be decided on the 21st - depending on the number of participants.
Deadline for entries is 19 Aug, 5pm. Late entries will not be entertained.

IN: JVPG 1st Joint District Carrom Tournament

Men’s top seed Pankaj Pawar and women’s eighth seed Kajal Kumari registered contrasting victories to emerge champions, in the JVPG 1st Joint District Carrom Tournament, at the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana.
After Radhika Joshi of Thane, Kumari, who shocked top seed Maitreyee Gogate in the quarter-finals, emerged as the other giant-killer after stunning second seed Ayesha Mohammed 25-13, 25-1 in the women’s championship round and earlier upsetting fifth seed Nilam Ghodke 25-8, 25-4 in the semi-finals to end a rewarding campaign.
Bombay YMCA winner Pankaj Pawar rallied to a thrilling 25-13, 1-25, 21-14 win over world No. 2 Mohd. Ghufran in the men’s final. Pawar got off to a dream start against the accomplished Ghufran who came back into the match by clinching the second game. Ghufran held the advantage early in the decider until Pawar fired a black-to-finish on the seventh board and changed the script in an exciting finish.

Women (Final): Kajal Kumari (Mumbai) bt Ayesha Mohd (Mumbai) 25-13, 25-1. Semi-finals: Kajal Kumari (Mumbai) bt Nilam Ghodke (Mumbai) 25-8, 25-4; Ayesha Mohd (Mumbai) bt Radhika Joshi (Thane) 25-13, 25-6.
