Champion of Champions & Indo-Sri Lanka Junior Carrom Test Series, Gurgaon, India

Hi friends, as usual reports and pictures from this event which took place from 21-23 October 2013 at Hotel Pllazio will be posted soon.

We request that all who know of Mr. B. Bangaru Babu to please pray that he'll have a speedy recovery. While on his way to the Delhi, he had a stroke in the train which led to his right side to be paralyzed. This is very sad as I know him personally for many years and he has solely contributed so much to carrom - not only in India but across the carrom world and it's very unfortunate this has happened to him. The least we could do as friends is to pray for him.

The event buntings at the hotel entrance
Arrived in Delhi at 10.30am local time and had no issues checking out. The new airport i.e. Indra Gandhi International Airport looked great. Was contemplating if I should get a local sim card and or change some local currencies but then I didn't which is a mistake I'll be regretting later. Then I was wondering where my pickup was and then finally as I walked out the airport, I saw a guy holding a A4 sized paper and printed "CARROM" in bold and caps lettering which was a huge relief.

Arrived at the hotel at about 11.30am and I was on time for check-in. The hotel had a x-ray machine outside the main entrance where every luggage you carry needs to go through it - just to make sure I guess so that no one's carrying explosives or something. What else is there right?

Beautiful fountain overlooking the main entrance
I was tired and I couldn't wait to drop off my stuffs and relax before meeting up my friends. Well the room was indeed a pleasant surprise - nice, modern and clean. Enjoyed the rain shower and an automatic blind separating the bathroom and the living area. Cool idea. Unfortunately the bathroom doors can't be locked. Here are some pics of the room.

And look who I found already on the warming up room upstairs. See the picture below:

On the left is Johannes Jorg and on the right is Mr. Arif Naqvi (ICF President) and both are from Germany
Mr. Naqvi loves playing carrom and here you can see him playing with Johannes and they can play for hours. I had the pleasure of playing a game with him. For a man of his age, he can literally sit there for hours and playing the game he so loves. Keep playing Mr. Naqvi, till we meet again next year.
